Yea my 5 year old Sony DCR HC32 finally would not sync anymore with firewire nor would it do other important things. I always get extended coverage on cameras and so I brought it into BestBuy last night. They took it and said they would call in 2-3 weeks......

They will either give me store credit or a new Sony camera in it's place. I'm hoping for credit so I can get a Canon HV20 or HV30 HD miniDV.

So for the next 2-3 weeks I don't have any cameras to work with....well I have an old Hi8 analog camera but that's not worth using...
The good thing is I can still do screen captures and tutorials until I get the cam back.

Just thought I would post my story now and follow up later on what I get in terms of a new camera.

Cool, I too soon have to go shooting in HD...
Since now even D-SLR's and cheap compact camera's have HD filming capabilities, I constantly get more desperate in getting one Smile .

My dad is looking to get a nice DSLR soon....he's always been into photography but never had a good digital camera..he does have some outstanding film cams though.

I will probably have to upgrade my storage...Right now I have two 500GB drives synced in a RAID1 configuration which is nice and safe but HD footage really takes up a lot of room and I like to try to keep a backup of all my raw footage for at least a year...

1TB drives are under $100 these days so it's a cheap upgrade to do these days.

So yesterday I get the cam back...(yes, bestbuy love to take their sweet time...) And find that they put $400 into the $500 camera but yet I look over it and it's still has some issues.
So I sent it back this morning and will hear from them in either 1 week or 3 weeks...depending on if the camera will be "repaired" once more or just sent back for store credit.

At this point theres no way the thing will be repaired nor do I want it to be as it's a 5 year old camera with crappy image.
I was looking into new consumer cams that shoot HD. The limiting part is I have to buy from BestBuy as we will have store credit from them.

The Canon HV20 and HV30 are nice but I still am unsure what to get at this point.
The MiniDV tapes are good and I have plenty but I have also worked with the new high speed SD card flash cameras and love those too...
