Green Screen Key Issues Sony Vegas Movie Studio Plat. 8.0
I notice that on youtube there are a lot of people doing green screen with pretty low quality equipment and they show their screen with and without a background keyed in ~ there are shadows and color differences, etc., but their backgrounds come in pretty good.
I am using Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0 and if I have the slightest color change, it comes out in my background.
Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr-gZHuQmis
I had the subject 6' from the screen, but was using cheep lights. Does software make that much of a difference?
Any suggestions?
Kirk

Try to use all the same type of lights...my choice is halogen all around however these days I use incandescent lights for the subject which doesn't seem to mess with anything too bad.
I will say that getting the screen evenly lit is the #1 priority when keying as any type of shadow will tend to give you issues in the effect. If you can, layer two key effects to take care of a light and dark area of the screen. This normally helps quite a bit.
Lastly, use a good keying program. I have worked with Adobe Premiere in the past but found Adobe After Effects does a much better job overall as there are more parameters to adjust.
Cheap lights can work, but you will eventually run into issues if you mix lighting types and don't have enough light.
