What I do is use a capture card (Canopus ADVC110) and run a standard VHS tape player into that to capture into any editing program.
If you want to capture down a USB 2.0 line Pinnacle makes products such as the Dazzle which will allow you to plug in a VHS deck.
Lastly there are the PCI interface cards which are used with desktop computers. I own one made by Leadtek however I tend to use the Canopus more often as it's easier to plug cameras into being its right on the desk.
If your camera can record and play back VHS tapes and has composite outputs you can use that as the deck.
