Printers, DVD covers etc.

Post  GottaLaunch on Fri Jan 30, 2009 6:35 pm

Hello folks,

When publishing your work, you probably need to make a nice design for a cover, to present your work, before the people even have seen your work.

But every time I print out a DVD cover, I have to ajust the size with a paper-cutter, because I don't know what the exact dementions are of a standard DVD cover.

Does somebody do?

And secondly, what's the best printer to have as a videographer?

As a videographer you often need to print out plain black&white documents, and covers (and graphics) too, so I'd say an inkjet printer would be the best deal here, but which one is the best inside a reasonable budget?

I have never printed out any "jackets" for DVD cases so I cant help you there....

I do however suggest spending a little more and getting a fairly good color laser printer. the toner lasts much longer and can be refilled with a little work. I use a huge Dell 3100CN office printer and it works very nice...it will be a little slow on color prints as it has to run though 4 times, one for each toner color. the overall image is outstanding though and you don't get that warping in the paper from all the wet ink.

As for the measurements of the jacket, try measuring one that came out of the store and make a template in a program of your choice. I use Word 2007.
