Chroma Subsampling

Post  Cornelius3D on Thu Oct 21, 2010 3:32 pm

Hello all,

I am doing some testing for my first home green screen production. In the past the green screening I have done has been with professional cameras and I haven't been the DP so I haven't needed to worry about this. I am using a Panasonic Lumix GH1 and am wondering about the chroma subsampling. The camera can record in various resolutions with AVCHD with 60i or 60p(at a lower resolution and bitrate) which will produce a chroma subsampling of 4:2:0 .. I have just been learning about all of this and I'm wondering what the best settings are and if this subsampling of 4:2:0 is good enough to get quality chroma keys.

Cheers.

I don't know much at all about Chroma Subsampling but I can suggest simply trying some things out on your own with a well lit chroma key screen and see which works best.
