I'm thinking of getting a low budget mic to record guitar/vocals, any advice for when i get one? or suggestions?

A great set of acoustics on a budget I enjoy using is the MXL 990/991 sold around $100 at most stores.
You will need an audio interface with phantom power to work with these mics however some stores sell a package like THIS which includes a mics, cables, and the interface. Just get some stands and a computer and you're off.

If that's too high, check into some USB condenser mics such as the Audio-Technica AT2020 or MXL 990 USB.
I prefer the sound of the AT2020 when it comes to the USB versions of these mics.
