Hi guys,

Last couple of weeks I've continuously been behind my DSLR (which explains the big white square on my face), and shot some amazing pics.
I'm still constantly expanding my gear, and now I want to go professional by offering photografy services for just about anything (portraits, reports, events, etc.).

Also, I'm considering buying a light kit in some time, but sadly enough always skipped talks on light kits because back then I didn't have any interest in buying one...

So I've got some preferred features:

-I'm doing both photo & video, so please no strobes
-I'd like to have 3 lamps
-diffused light is a must, with the option of attaching barn doors.
-preferably fluorescent.
-and of course I'd like to have nice 'n' tall light stands.

Which light should I choose?

Thanks in advance!

Well the sad part is most cool-flo kits are only softbox or reflective box type. I have not seen any with barn doors.

For photos you dont need a quiet light kit but for video it really helps so I suggest the air cooled TTL MX series lights at tubetape.

This set offers 3 lights with barn doors and softboxes and is nice however you may want to go with this set which gives you a boom stand to do hair/back lighting easily.

Ok, thats a pity, but what if we leave the barn doors out of the equation?

But what I don't get, is that umbrellas are designed to work with the bulbs are pointed towards the umbrella, not directly at the subject, right?
And if they come with such a soft screen in front of it, isn't it more like a soft box than a umbrella?

Yes they umbrella light kits all tend to have the bulb aimed towards the reflective or discussion material. Most of the time you setup the light so the light is aimed away from the object/person on set and have the material reflect the light backwards. This gives a more even and diffused light.
