Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
Hey all I like Marks review of Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit but I plan on using 2 of these to light my subject for green screen.
I like the idea that they use very little power and they are very easy to set up.
I had my heart set on the mxlights halogen lights but these EZ octogonal seem to be new, so what is your take and opinion?
I am going to have 2 seperate work lights lighting up the green screen from both sides.
So would these EZ octogonal lights give me good light for my subject for green screen, or are the mxlights alot better.
Dave and Mark Your opinions?
Also is there any user reviews or previews of people that actually used these lights for green screens that I can watch there videos to see how it looks.
Thanks in advance.
Looking to buy this Monday from tube tape, so quick advice would be appreciated.

If you have halogen work lights I would try to get halogen lights for the subject...that way you are not mixing light types.....which can be a big problem later.
Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
Is it a huge difference when you mix lights? cause I like the fact the octo cool flow has low power wattage, which is good to use in my bedroom studio. But if its a big difference then I will go with the mxlights. I really want quality. How many amps does these lights take up by the way? I only have a 15 watt breaker.
Thanks Dave as always.

Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
I do not think mixing light temperatures is a big pproblem, if you just white balance it correctly...
Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
True, it's not a huge problem but most consumer grade cams will have a hard time keying out really well if you mix lights and such....although most consumer cams have a hard time with this effect anyways........
Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
I have a Cannon HdV30 camera(hd camera). what will be the best lights for quality of subject in a green screen scenerio.
Mxlights or the Ez Octogonal or the cool flow.
What is the correct amount of wattage I need.
I see the Ex Octogonal lights have (5100K) 300 watts each.
The cool flow have (5100K) - HIGH OUTPUT 45 WATT FLUORESCENT LAMPS equivalent to 1800 watts incandescent
And the Mx lights have (3200K) 2 500 watt bulbs.
Please help I need to order from tube tape this week.

I'd go for it, you've got a nice cam and the 3200K lamps are only being used to light the backdrop, so it's not even interfearing with the other lamps.

Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
Hey all, I am still doing research on which kit is the best.
I see Tube Tape added another Video kit to their website. So I have 2 choices of kits with different lights and different software.
Please check this link and tell me which kit would be best for a home studio green screen filming with a HV30 Hd camera.
So should I get the Green screen pro Video Studio kit or the new Essential Chromakey Video kit.
Your opinions are welcome thank you.
Heres the link, Thank you in advance.

Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
I peronsally would spend a little more and go for the Essential Chromakey Video Kit as one more light is extremely helpful and the boom arm feature is very nice as you can do a nice hair light.
Looks like a very nice kit, I may go with that soon as I got a new set of jobs lined up.

Indeed I'd go for the essential kit.
Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
So your saying you rather go with the florencent lights in the essential kit then the halogens lights in the video pro kit?????

Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
the fluorescent kits may not output as much light as the halogens but they have that different color temp. and there is one more light in the kit which I feel is the winning point.
I also like the low heat output and energy input of the fluorescent lights.

Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
Hey Dave thanks for the replies your info is very helpful.
I apologize for all the questions, but I am new to this Green screen and lighting stuff and I am learning a lot here.
But out of the florecents. I notice that tube tape sells two types of florecents. They sell the octo EZ florecents and they sell the cool flow florecents.
The octo EZ Florecents are the ones bundled in the essential bundle.
So which ones would you pick for lighting a green screen subject. Cool flow Florecents or Octo EZ Florecents?
Thank you.

Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
They are the same type of lights although one set may put out more "Lumens", (amount of light) than the other. It's a good idea to keep an eye on the specs when ordering a light kit to know what you are buying before placing your order.
If you have any questions, feel free to email or call TubeTape. The customer service team is extremely helpful and they know their products.
At TT you will see them list the replacement fluorescent bulbs and you can also view the Lumens rating for them.

Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
Thanks Dave, but my questions was what would you choose if you could only have one kit of 3 lights for green screen lighting subjects.
Cool flow or Ez octogonal????????
These are the links for both.

Thank you.

Re: Your opinion for Green screen on Cool Flo - 300 Watt EZ Octagonal Single Light Kit
The choice is yours in the end but if I were buying I would go with the higher priced set as it puts out more light (2700 Watts). Too little light can be a pain and will cause your camera to boost the gain. I'm sure you could also buy a fluorescent dimmer for the higher watt kit as well if needed.
